Commonly thought of as the most glamorous and popular style of the twentieth century, the Art Deco period of style began in Europe around 1908, shortly before the end of the Edwardian era, but quickly became more widespread particularly after the Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs in 1925.
Nothing epitomises the Art Deco style more than individual pieces available from Period Style Lighting, especially the more architectural and geometrically angular ones, usually manufactured from chrome (a new material at the time) and glass which was usually etched, sandblasted or enamelled, although lights featuring the female form holding an opaque glass sphere lamp are also typical.
